I have decided to purchase the 15 inch coil and have placed the order.
I have thought about my type of hunting, coins in parks and relics in trashy parks (not national or state) and how the 15" will help.
main benefit for me is coverage. Lot of the parks have nice flat open spaces and same...
I thought I'd share some items found today and last week. These were all recovered from a curb strip next to an old school I like to hunt. The Newfoundland 20 cent piece ( .925 ) is definitely something I didn't expect to dig! It didn't even ring up or sound like you would expect a larger silver...
I have been using an At Pro for the past 3 years but I'm thinking of moving up to a minelab. I'm looking for better discrimination and technology to try and rediscover some of my older spots.
When I hunt with my friends who both have etracs I feel like they are getting the deeper targets more...
I have the Equinox 800 and when you manual ground balance you can get a number between -9 and 99. So I assume that a reading of lets stay 88 is highly mineralized soil and a reading of 1 or -9 is no mineralization.
am I on the right track? seems the manual on page 40 says nothing about what...
will be taking my Equinox to areas of a major CW action that I have permission to hunt. I have 3 years experience on the AT Pro, and now have an Equinox 800. (Sold the AT Pro).
I have about 30 hours of hunting experience in trashy parks on the 800 and I am comfortable with adjusting the...
Ok, I think I have seen the answer to this question but cannot remember. On the Equinox 800 I think I read somewhere the tones and TID's are based on the difference between the ground and target.
So if detectorist A is hunting in ground with more mineral content than detectorist B would not a...
A metal detector’s unlikely find on the shores of Huntington Beach helped an Olympic gold medalist locate his lost commemorative ring Wednesday.
Leon Jones of Buena Park found the Olympic ring earlier this week during one of his usual outings using his metal detector to scan for unique...
Hunting a trashy park. will discriminate 22 and below. will be using my new 6 inch coil i received on July 20, 2018.
I have read using discrimination will reduce the effective depth on the 800.
Is that true?
If so then i could just set two tone breaks with 1st tone break last position being...
in my research found a nice little creek that goes right though a major civil war battle area in an urban area. It is about 200 yards wide and 1,000 yards long between two old residential streets. From street level it is about fifty feet below to the bottom of a small creek with steep eroded...
I have my Equinox 800 so one assigned tone break is 16-19 for civil war bullets.
but a large old style pull tab rings up a solid 16.
so is there any other way to overcome this problem or do I just have to dig all 16 TID's.
john
Just dug a 1 foot trench and then in the trench wall drove stakes in about 2" at the 6" depth and 12" depth parallel to the surface and place my targets in these slots.
My backyard in the trees for the test trench has about 6" of sandy soil and then solid red clay down lower.
I Can hit all my...
I have the wireless bluetooth head phones with Nox 800. I have been using them but find they produce soft or seemingly to my ears more muffled tones.
Also included in the box was the WM-08 transmitter.
Is the WM-08 faster or better latency than the minelab bluetooth headphones for the nox 800...
Ok, have had my 8800 for about 3-4 days now. Have taken it for a few hunts in trashy areas. Now ready to tackle the settings.
I have compiled my TID list from many people on this and another popular metal detecting forum. Have confirmed most of those settings with my extensive junk box and some...
Got my new Equinox 800 in and compared weight with AT Pro.
The Equinox 800 using blue tooth weighs 1.2 lbs less than the AT Pro using the Z-Lynk wireless module and both machines using stock coils.
So it is a lighter swing compared to what I was used to with the AT Pro.
Hello everyone,
I'm jumping head first into this hobby, and I'd prefer to start out with something decent right out of the gate. I'd originally considered the AT Max, but I think the two in my title would be much better options to last for a long time.
Back to my question, Equinox 800 is out...
