I have a large heavy skeleton key. 6 inches long. Shows honest wear and heavy patina. It has a hollow stem with a hole on top. Could this be a key gun or what? It has a gap in the hollow stem about 1 1/2 inches long. Thanks for any help.

Found this yesterday, I'm wondering how old it is and what it might be worth. It has a capital E on it, I would guess it went to a lock box?
