Ok, so maybe it can be done more easily, but I was just thinking it was about time for me to dig some silver other than dimes! That thinking paid off in a "big" way today with the 1941 half, 1950 quarter and 1941, 1950 and 1951D dimes. Eleven wheats, a religious medallion and a very cruddy aluminum token thing that says "John Davies"

Poked around researching John Davies, and I suspect this is a token issued by John Davies, born in Wales about 1869, saloonkeeper, listed in the 1910 Census at 53 S. Front St., Columbus.

All my hunts lately have had some kind of two-fer about them... first it was two 1944 dimes on each of two hunts, then two 1943 dimes, now 1941 half and dime and 1950 quarter and dime. Just kinda strange once you start paying attention to things like that.

Anyhow, I was at the park for just a few hours, finishing up gridding the field I needed to finish (Total of 8 silvers from this field, maybe 9). Went back to another area that I still needed to cover the edges of and got the half... just 2" deep, but in a real trashy area, a 05-47 on the E-Trac meter, but a no-doubt "dig" signal. You can see the rust stains on both sides of the half.

Hope everyone is enjoying Labor Day and hopefully got some good detecting time in! :icon_thumright:

You are having a great silver year Nick, that ETRAC is pulling them in.I know what you mean with the silver dimes, while I do pretty good with Quarters, since the beginning of 2007 I have around 300 silver coins ,but only 1 half.I'd love to find a Walker!Congrats!

Fantastic digs as always Nick. Have you thought about filming these hunts? I believe you would have quite a following.....JJ
