I was over a friends house today and he was going through his brothers personal belongings who had passed away. Came across $100 confederate bill that is dated Nov. 20, 1862. We know nothing about this item and the little bit of reseach I have done leads me t
o believe it is a fake. The serial # is in red ink which is the way they did do it but it is so faded can't read it. I did find a web site that gave a serial # and stated if that same # was on the bill it was a fake but still worth money. It seems when you used a confederate bill it was stamped due to the fact you got 2 cents interest from the date it was issued, this one being Nov 20, 1862. This one was never stamped. Thank you in advance for any input.

Thank you blurr for the input and I do know it IS FAKE. Yes the backs were blank on most and the stamps were added when you took the interest. I did find a little more info on a fake bill.

Backs
All 1861 Notes have blank backs. Most of the 1862 Notes also have blank backs. Those issued on Dec. 2, 1862 ($5 and up) have a blue printed back. The same is true for 1863 and 1864. The 1864 $500 is also blank on the back.

I just wonder about the story behind it.

sorry to say this guy but you have a reproduction the serial number is where you find the letter n and i edited the pic and made it clear and the number is 65798 which is a reproduction so that means it has no collectible value i also have confederate money but they are all real i have like 50 of them.

I found a 1000 confederate bill 1882 & I find out it came from a cereal box from the 1950's!! Cool stuff!! I got a 1881 Morgan silver dollar though, so that made up for my disappointment. Got military paper money 5 & 10 cent ones!! Looking to find out the worth!!
