Dad & I have just broken the 1000 button mark for this year. I only started counting on request of Woody (this year), & its been quite fun finding out.

Picture 1 shows a small area of future bird cover, tiny piece of ploughed land which took 1.5 hours for us to cover. Not much other than a lead piece with IM (pre 18th century JM), no idea what it is.

Picture 2 is 1.5 hours on the land we have been doing recently. This was our last day, as we just noticed a crop coming through.
1 scrappy
Broken buckle
bits....

What can we do this weekend :icon_scratch:

1000 old buttons? I (we) will never see that many in a lifetime of detecting. Wish I could hunt where you are Crusader :o

I counted two different years and dug about a 1000 each time. Your % military don't seem to be as good as here, of course you also dig many that date before they began to be marked. I'd say I was about 1 military for every 10 plain but these last couple of years I don't think were as good, certainly don't have the count not being out as much.

The military I find are mostly on three fields where the ratio is 50% or higher, as they were military related dumps. The normal ratio is about 1 in 20. I only actually keep about 1 in 10 overall.
