Found this detecting in the woods yesterday. It's about 2 1/2" long with some kind of outdoor scene on one side. I couldn't find any other markings on it so I had it tested. Turned out to be 14k gold. Any comments on what it is or how old it is are appreciated.

I think it's part of a chatelain. There were many types of items that hung on them. Yours looks like it may be a match holder. Congrats!

It's about time!!! How a gold coin only takes 2 days to get banner and your find took over 2 months us a complete head scratcher. :dontknow:

Don't get me wrong a gold coin deserves banner but a unique gold find like this is just incredible.

Based on the size and overall shape, it's definitely a needle case. It would have been suspended from a ladies chatelaine along with various other items. It is in absolutely AMAZING condition!

Shown below is a gold chatelaine with sewing accessories attached. Included are a thimble case, a bodkin case (big needle with a large eye), a needle case, a scissors case and a small vinaigrette.

If it didn't have the bracelet I would say needle holder, but I think that is a Match Holder. Either way thats an AWESOME find!!!

It's not a bracelet, it's a chain to attach it to a chatelaine. There is no spring ring, it's a jump ring or a split ring.

The size is not correct for a match vesta. It would only hold 2 or 3 matches.

it is a needle case.
