11 More silver this week using the 15" WOT coil

I spent the whole week hunting with the Coilteck 15" WOT coil

With the 11 silver I got last weekend...then hunting during the week up until this Saturday with the WOT coil ...and getting 11 MORE... I ended up with a total of 22 silver coins in that 7 day stretch. I believe that's my best total for a week in my 35 years of hunting.

I knew I had a coil that was going to punch deep into the turf the first time I set it down beside me...because it picked up my digger 3' away from the coil. in fact I had to point the SE off to the right when I started to dig a plug. ;D

Started out at the park that gave me 11 silver last weekend..
My buddy nabbed 5 as well ...so I knew it would be a challenge to find more..

On that day I was using the pro coil...he was used a couple of different coils...and another friend was using yet another coil. Trust me...once we started finding silver...we beat this tiny area into submission.

All of the coins found that day were on edge...some very deep on edge...AND smothered in iron.

Well...to make a long story short...the WOT coil sniffed out 4 more Roosies for me on this day...and each was at the 8" mark on edge. 3 of the 4 were in iron..while one was stuck directly to the side of a big chunk sitting completely vertical.

Next hunt at a different park... another iron infested place and the EMI is also very nasty on any given day and at any given time. ???

I was able to pull out 2 keepers from this crazy place...a merc from 8"...and an Injun from 8"....and again both were on edge.

Next hunt was at a place where I pulled 2 seated dimes and a barber out of with Gary a short time ago. I would have really liked to spend some time hunting this spot in an area that he and I hadn't hit yet...but that wasn't the objective of this trip. My objective was to hunt in the exact same area as before that I pounded with the pro coil...and retrace my steps to see if I could squeeze out anything that I missed with that coil

Well in 4 hours I squeezed out 2 mercs....a roosey...an injun...and 2 wheaties. More importantly...these came from the exact area as we had pounded before. In fact 3 of the finds came within 3 feet of plugs from the previous week.

The last hunt of the week was on one of my personal sites on very private property.

Anyway this last hunt of the week produced TWO coins that missed being seated by only one year...oh well. ::)

The first thing I dug here was the 1892 Barber dime from directly underneath a big root.

I then popped out a few wheaties at the 8" level...but then got a super deep "warbler". It hit from just one way and the cursor just fluttered along the top...but never settled in the iron range.
Anyway...from 10" down and on edge popped the Washington quarter from an area of fill dirt.

I soon got an iron scream...but the WOT coil seemed to also be picking up a nice warble tone in with the iron scream. I decided to give it a shot...and was rewarded with an 1892S worn Barber quarter from 6" down and straight on edge. There was also a little chunk of iron sticking out of the side of the hole.
The WOT coil gave a nice "wraparound" effect on the silver signal and was able to see around the iron.....VERY nice. :occasion14:

About an hour later I popped out the nice sterling silver ring from 9"...and it too was mixed in with iron.

Right before leaving I was able to hit the tiny little sterling silver charm from 10" down from a spot that had fill dirt/clay down to about the 5" level.

Here is a breakdown on the finds...and the conditions as to why the coins were probably still in the ground at these absolutely pounded sites:
The ground was very moist at all sites.

Park #1) 1...Barber quarter on edge at 9"
2...Dick Tracy car from 15" down

Park #2) 1...4 Roosies all from 8" down in iron

Park #3) 1..Merc on edge at 8"
2...Injun at 8" on edge

Park #4) 1...Merc on edge from 8"
2...Merc from 10" near iron
3...Roosey from 7" with pulltab in the hole
4...Injun from 7" on edge
5...2 Wheaties in the 10" range
6...old jewelry piece with harness horse racing pictured on it

Private)...1.. Barber quarter at 6" straight on edge in iron
2...Barber dime at 10" under tree root in iron
3...Washington Quarter at 10" on edge
4...Sterling face pendant from 10" down in iron
5...Sterling Silver ladies ring from 9" in heavy iron

Bryce,

Way to go on the silver for the week. Sounds like you did everything short of excavating down to 12" on the whole site and sifting it for coins. Thanks for the details of each find also. I look forward to your posts as I learn something each time you post.

Dave

Nice review of the WOT coil Bryce and congrats on all
the silver that you found while reviewing it. The information you
provided supprised me as I didn't think that a large coil like the
WOT would separate as well as you indicated during your tests.
Thanks....... Gold Nuggets :icon_jokercolor:

Yeeooowwww!!!

Another nice hunt, Bryce!

I envision you in a few years driving around in an atv over all your "hunted out" sites towing an arm with the new 48" x 72" BAC (big a$$ coil), finding everything else in the ground. Of course John Deere Digger will have to follow and help you dig your finds from 8' down with his digger! ;D

Nice finds Bryce. I've didn't go out for 4 days and your pictures are getting me depressed. It has rained here for 2 days and they are calling for 2 inches of snow tomorrow. PJ

I found that EXACT button you have there, does the back mark say superior quality? I was told it was a civilwar musician's button, awesome haul you got! WOW!
