Some times you have to roll with the changes. A big Noreaster storm dropped 12" of snow in past 24 hours. The ground is covered with snow, so I decided I would do a little water hunting after work since the lakes are not frozen yet. It paid off with a nice 1959 rosie. I am sure people think I am nuts when they see me out in the lake in these conditions, even though I am just trying to prolong the soon the be ending detecting season here in the north.

Where abouts in the fingerlakes George? I am from canandaigua. New to the hobby, but perhaps next spring we could meet up and hunt somewhere.

We also got nailed in the Eastern Ontario, lakes are frozen, up to a foot of frost in the ground in some places and the roses are dead.

Nice work on the silver so late in the season.

Never realized how good I have it until I read about your weather. All I can say is that you guys are better men than I am...

I'll take any kind of weather over 95 degrees and humid for months on end. Nothing worse than bone dry ground for metal detecting. Right now, the ground here in RI is saturated, which is awesome for finding deep targets. As long as the ground doesn't freeze more than an inch or two, I'll be detecting my rear end off this month.

Looks like it is time to settle in with a TWO FOUR here in The Great White North. :occasion14:

I don't think you're nuts at all. I left my house to go detecting a couple of weeks ago and it was 16 degrees. It was nice that it warmed up to the high 20's. The woods haven't frozen yet and only have a very light snow cover around here (lower Hudson Valley). Yesterday warmed up to about 36 and I pulled a few wheaties, a V nickel and Indian out of the woods.
