I have a older 1266x [ late 80;begin90's]
That still works fine other than one of the (terminals) if that' s the word for it ;Shorted out one day where one of the battery [4 packs] connects down inside the machine & actually one of these [terminals] rusted a little and broke off.

Now I have rigged it where I can connect the wires from down inside the machine and connect the wire tips directly to the battery pack & this seems to work.
Also where you screw on the back cover over the batteries the nylon hole it screws into has broken and the nylon/plastic screw will not screw into the hole , making the only way to close it ,is to tape it shut..
Has anyone else had this issue? & if so did you fix it and how?
It's still a great machine that has found hundreds of relics in the past by it;s former owner & quite a few by me (until the meltdown )

I really need an owners manual as well.
I will greatly prize any info given .
Thanks Davers

The old 1266X....Miss that machine and the dual discrimination was a great feature.. Those were the good ole days for sure. Made many great finds with it. The thing was, it didn't have multi-tones or visual id but always came home with something good while using it.

Davers, in another thread you mentioned you were looking for the AA battery packs. I remember picking up up a set at Radio Shack years ago back in the early 90s and it worked. Don't know if they still carry them now though, but worth a try.
