hey folks, i just got a tesoro outlaw which comes with a 12x10 spoked coil. i want to try and do some cache hunting and from what i understand a widescan coil is better for that purpose. my question is, do i use the 12x10 in any way different from using an 8 inch cocentric? i would guess that i should hunt in all metal mode and dig EVERYTHING as opposed to coin shooting with a bit of discrimination.

Howdy Bufaloe, I just got a 10x12 widescan for my Tesoro Lobo Super Traq. We went out yesterday to a local colonial store site that we have hunted the heck out of to see if we could find any of the deeper stuff. The deepest piece was a 4x6 piece of cast iron over 18 inches deep that rang up a good clear signal. The two biggest differences for me was pinpointing with the toe instead of the center and the extra weight. I bought a "Detectors Buddy" sling and it made an enormous differance in ease of swinging. No sore shoulder and arm today after about 2 hours of swinging yesterday. I was running in disc mode with disc set at 5 because of the large amount of old rusty nails on the site. I see that you are in Virginia. I live near Martinsville. Where are you located? Good Luck. steve

thanks Indian for the info, glad i have an idea of how i should be using it. if its picking cast iron that deep, should be finding zinc jars a bit much deeper shouldnt it. i live about an hour west of roanoke in wythe county. wondering if your moniker has anything to do with the bike in your profile pic. if thats an indian, i may have something you would be interested in.

not near as valuable as yours, but i have a 1974 enduro indian. from my research i dont think it was made when the indian name was american owned. i believe the bike was made in italy. pretty sure not all original parts but most of it is. i bought it at a yard sale for 500 bucks and its been in the basement ever since. as you can see in the pics it looks as tho the tank was painted over and the symbol on the muffler is painted on, so i dont know what to think about that.

It's still a cool bike even though its not an American made Indian. I have owned several Enfield / Indians made in England and even one 1948 CZ / Indian. Indian imported CZs in 48 and 49 to compete with the Harley Hummer which was based on the German DKW. Floyd Clymer actually made some Indians in the 1960s that used New Old Stock 45 Indian Engines. Polarus now owns the Indian name so it is American made again. Did you buy this at a yard sale way out in the country outside Wythville. I looked at one like it about 15 years ago up there. Thanks for sharing the pics. Steve

Bufaloeletric, The county mounty was parked on the median. He claimed he clocked my MH doing 78 in the slow lane between two tractor trailers with cars wizzing by between us in the fast lane. I had to attend a drivers school to avoid the points and since I live in MD, I attended one in MD, but still had to pay for the school in VA. What a racket! It cost me over $200 for the lie that cop told. The worst part is I can remember way back when the VA highway patrol would actually stop and ask you if you needed help changing a flat. Frank

did that deputy go by the name of B.J. Lawson, i was arrested for public intoxication just because i happened to be standing on the porch at a company christmas party by that guy. (he had showed up because someone had complained about the dj playing music too loud) when i went to court B.J. stated that i resisted arrest and bad mouthed him all the way to the station. the truth is that he asked me to come off the porch and as soon as i stepped off he cuffed me and stuffed me, i never said a word to him the whole time. on top of that, i never understood how i could be guilty of public intoxication when no breathalyzer, blood test, or sobriety test was ever given. yes the speed traps are bad here, i remember this past year when i went to new york that i saw more officers running radar in this county than i saw the whole rest of the way to new york. speed limits been changed to 70 for a few years now and that makes me feel a little more comfortable when trying to get somewhere fast.

bufaloeletric, It's been years since it happened. The limit ,I think, Was 60 then. The cop was very abrasive in attitude. Don't remember his name. Frank
