Actually found yesterday. The "before" picture is attached. Give me two weeks and I'll post the "after". I'm having it restored. IMG_0463.JPG

Half a ring? And chased it for awhile as the sand scoop kept having it drop through the holes in the scoop.

Good luck with the restoration.
Ain't it a gas when you're chasing a small item that keeps slipping through your scoop. I've done it numerous times in neck deep water,, lol

No scruggs, it WILL be a nice gold ring in two weeks and a few hundred dollars later. I'm paying way too much for the repair, but it's ok. Have very few bills these days. House and car are paid off.

Certainly you're mounting a new stone in it?

For those small items, my buddy Steve zip tied a 1/4" metal screen in his scoop to catch the earring studs.

Yes, a faceted garnet will go back in it. They said two weeks. To get my money. The look on the person who helped me at the jewelers' face was priceless, like "you want to restore THIS?" I chase broken barrell swivels quite a lot as well as the stud earrings and twist metal bands from plastic bags. Occasionally one of those little things is gold. Funny, haven't found much silver there. Either gold or junk.

Well, the jeweler called today. Told me to come pick it up. Or what's left of it. They could not repair it. Hope its not a melted blob or in 6 pieces. Oh well. Getting all my money back however.

They had a problem, said it started to crack when they heated it....
