Just dug this 30 mins ago in the backyard my first guess was the top of a flag pole second guess part of a piece of furniture (bed)? image.jpeg

Looks like a clock/watch winding key to me. But, can't really tell until it is cleaned up.

looks like a turn knob for 1800s gas lamp or heater/ house fixture - to big for watch and bottom is iron
most finials would be all brass - design is not practical for a pull - more designed for thumb and forefinger turn knob
