This question gets asked often, but it's also a good refresher.

The following excerpt is from the contract between the state and the Mel Fisher group in Sebastian Florida. These locations are usually centered on the ballest piles. Also keep in mind that some of these sites are from the 1715 fleet and some are not. (http://www.imacdigest.com/)

wreck diver 1715 ---the following vessels most likely are within the 1715 fleet wreck general area all 5 of Ubilla's vessels and both main treasure vessels and the Olandesa of Echeverz fleet----including the maria galante (the small patache class type frigattila-- (being so small cargo might have been carried instead of ballast to be more "profietible")-- also known as the "english prize" vessel * taken earlier by Echeverz along with the small frigate type dutch prize --which also might have had little to no ballast in the interest of carrying more cargo--(La Olandesa--"the Holland /dutch" with La being the female term of "the" in spanish ) and the french prize (EL Ciervo-- "the stag" with EL being the male form of "the" in spanish ) all three vessels were taken off of south america --and yes there are male and female forms of "the" in spanish.

* the english prize is spoke of in the book "the funnel of gold" -- it was how the spanish found out that govemor hamilton was working with the "english pirates" -- when it was taken as a "prize" --the english capt said that the govenor was a 25% partner in the venture -- however the ploy did not work and the boat was still taken over as a "prize" vessel --it was later sold to Ubilla who was short of small vessels due to several of his small vessels being wrecked by bad weather in mexico.

by my reading of the records --it seems that Olandesa 's top deck works came ashore somewhat intact and were used as shelter during the recovery project -- in one letter Echeverz wrote --"from the real (shelter / camp) of the Olandesa --thus it loss site must be close to his 2 main known treasure vessel sites --- there were 11 spanish vessels lost in total * --- the accounting I get is all 5 of Ubillas fleet and 3 of Echeverz fleet in the main wreck site area --- with 3 of Echeverz vessels and the Griffon sailing away from the bulk of the fleet shortly before the main storm struck and thus most likely not within the "known" or general wreck site area area -- these are the Concepcion -- thought to be lost somewhere near the cape* (due to the fact some survivors were found at the cape having floated on a hatch cover for a few days)--and the 2 other remaining vessels are still "totally" unaccounted for are --the EL Senor San Miguel (nao-- tabbacco listed as its main cargo ) and the EL Ciervo ( 96 tons of brazilwood- listed as cargo)

the Griffon went on to brest ,france.

Corrigans wreck location can't be correct here, the coordinates put it right off Wabasso.

Thank you everybody.

I've been interested in these wrecks since I met Art McKee, 1975.
