I enjoyed the drinks and talks with all of you guys after the meeting. Some of you I hadn't seen in years, so it was nice to reconnect! I thought the meeting was great too, very informative and well put together. Great job guys! See you under the waves....actually, if you see me, swim north...your in Jupiter. :D

On the new regulations, Fisheye had it right in his earlier post:

You will need to have watercraft liability insurance in the amount of $300,000 that names 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, LLC as additional insured and certificate holder. This certificate will be attached to your contract.

All crew will need to be registered. Each crewmember must sign a waiver of liability indemnifying 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, LLC against injury or death and submit to background checks.

Each subcontractor must have at least one designated Data Logger. This person(s) will be in charge of data recording and the submission of log-sheets and artifacts. We will do an onboard inspection of the vessel where the designated Data Loggers/Artifact Handlers will need to demonstrate their ability to use and take accurate readings from a DGPS positioning unit.

$1000 contract fee.

----------------------------------------

Once these requirements have been met, we will then set a meeting to sign the contract.

Subcontractors will choose their exclusive areas to work. These areas will be 300 x 300 feet. A maximum of two exclusives will be assigned at this time. Once these areas have been thoroughly investigated, you will have the ability to choose a different location based on availability. No work will be permitted outside your exclusive area and any violation of this policy will result in the contract being suspended or terminated.

Not many contracts to be signed due to the high operating and fuel costs plus background and drug checks and liability insurance(which is questionable since the lease holder is to have the insurance with the DEP and army corps) and now the $1000 fee to be a sub-contractor.The fishers had a better deal and a bonus.

It sounds like all the fun has been taken out of it. I'm sure there will be those that are grandfathered in, but it seems like the new rules have obstacles some of us probably can't overcome. It doesn't matter much to me personally because I wasn't going to seek a contract anyway, but I do feel for the newcomers and oldtimers that may find all the requirements a bit overwhelming. I see the reasoning behind the rules, but I don't have to like 'em. I just happen to be one of those guys that believes in live and let live.

Well I wasn't there so I don't know what exactly was said.

Do they just want to know whom they are working with? Or does a negative background check and/or a positive drug test kill your shot at working as a sub-c or a crewmember? hmmm

Neither is a concern for me but umm, well I won't say anymore...

Oh yeah- Any State people show up this year?

What was Brandon's talk about?

I knew I should have asked for someone to run a phone on speaker phone, lol
