Metal Detecting
The other day decided to pull off the interstate and hunt near a corral which I had previously searched out. It's out in the desert by itself--no other houses or people around--no cattle either. Wasn't expecting to find much. But I knew the spot was old. Detecting around the corral, I got a clear 77-78 VDI on the ATP. "Penny", "Somebody dropped a penny". I dug it since no other good targets up to that point(Boy am I glad I did!). To my amazement, out popped this 1776 1/2 Spanish Colonial silver Reale. By far the oldest coin(and first Reale) I've found after 3 1/2 years of hunting. My 26th silver coin found. It's worn pretty bad--especially the reverse. The obverse is 1/2 worn. The internet gives it a value of $10. Priceless to me. (sorry about the poor pics) HH. 7up.
