1794 Large Cent...Thick puppy with lettered edge

This is the 1794 Large cent that I dug last night. I've been digging coins since 1976, and this is by far the best one I've dug. The large cent in 1793 and 1794 was much much thicker, and had a lettered edge which reads "one hundred for a dollar". The weight of the 93s and 94s was 208 grains, which was reduced to 168 grains in 1795, at which point the lettered edge was not used because the planchet was too thin, and which would remain the weight of large cents for the remainder of the denomination...right up through 1857.

Note: Most of the 1795s were the lettered edge variety also. The weight was reduced by President George Washington in late 1795, so most of the 1795s have lettered edges too.

This coin was dug in the "common area" of a really old cemetery. The last interment there was before the civil war.
