Spent only 2.5 hours on the Barley Stubble Field.

Very please with the early Silver spoon, can't be to sure what the date is because it has no assayers mark. (either way its Georgian) :icon_thumright: Might get it strainghten one day.

3 Scrappy Roman Coins
2 Livery Buttons - the double type is rare in my collection

Nice evening hunt :)

UPDATE:

George Smith IV registered his makers mark in Jun 1799, so this piece was marked between June 1799 & Dec 1799! :)

Re: 1799? Silver Spoon...

wow CRUSADER what a great spoon  i love seeing old hall marked silver come outta the ground congrats
as for the assayers mark i"v got two spoons that don't have one ether i think small silver items were exempt from town marks but the date letters are a little different i"d say London & as you said 1798-9.
i had a quick look at makers for ya but it"s a bit hard to see the mark clearly if it"s "GS" it"s GEORGE SMITH IV 1799-1805 or if it"s "CS " it"s CHARLES SAFFELL 1791 - ????.
you made my day mate when i looked at your spoon the date letter looked the same as a spoon i dug 5 months ago i thought it was 1818-9 after a quick search on the net but after looking through one of my silver books checking yours it turns out to be 1798-9 wow wow wow it"s now my oldest item i"v ever detected :headbang: thank you very much
& hope i"v helped.

Glad to hear it & yes it helps to now know the maker (GS).

This early silver is a rare UK find, so I would say its a very special Aussie find, well done :icon_thumright:
