1800-1850 Settlement - LC's, Trade Relics, Flintlock, Buckles

Hi Everyone,
I've spent the last few days digging an old settlement from the early-mid 1800's. Since this settlement has been abandoned, it has had no modern influences. It had never been detected before and has been an absolute treat to hunt. Every target was era-specific. I am still cleaning and cataloguing over a dozen buttons and will post them as a grouping at a later date. Thanks to all the Tnet folks who helped me in identifying these finds. For the record, I am not finished with this site yet. It looks as if I will have about a week to complete it before it will become unavailable for the season. Here's what I've found so far on this awesome site:

Way to go. The eyeball finds intrigue me. Nice background info on the trade beads. That site has to be super old for your area of Indiana.

Great Finds! I don't think the first large cent is a 1847.
The bust looks more like a matron head. Its more likely a 1827 or a 1817(I think its a 1817)

FYI, the item you have marked as "Decorative Clip" is an escutcheon that goes on the forearm of a muzzle loading rifle or shot gun.

The rectangular hole in the middle is where the barrel key went through it. There was one of these on either side of the forearm stock, the key slid through the hole and then through a loop on the underside of the barrel and on out the other side of the stock through another similar escutcheon. The key held the stock onto the barrel. On a half stock rifle or shotgun there was one barrel key. On full stock rifles there were usually three keys and three sets of escutcheons.

The escutcheons kept the wood intact and helped lessen the wear on the softer wood over the years of the weapon being disassembled and assembled.

Thanks, Curious! I was waiting on someone with your kind of knowledge on this. Greatly appreciated. Is it possible that this piece went with the flintlock pieces in the same picture?
