I purchased this coin for my type set a week ago. I am trying to identify the variety. I have come up with COHEN 7

What I would like from you guys is to confirm or disprove this. If it is a COHEN 7 I made a VERY NICE PURCHASE

Thanks in advance for any help, VPR

The more I look...... You are exactly right. Maybe I was just hopeful that someone else would call it a 7 :tard: Still not a bad purchase for $125.00 :)

Thanks for your input on the coin.

LOL, you wanted to know if Cohen 7, well, it is not, and it is also not a Cohen 6, look at the Reverse, you will see the the right lower stem points to the upper part of the A, also the leaves at the top are closer to being under the E, not the S as in Cohen 6 & 7, so what is it?

Cohen 8
Very Common - R-1

Thanks guys, it is always fun and sometimes a challenge in attributing varieties of the early cents and half cents, I really enjoy doing it. Here is a Very Scarce variety of 1804 that I was fortunate enough to find while metal detecting. This Spiked Chin variety was rather easy to identify thanks to the very noticeable die crack on the reverse. Cohen 5.

I have found two other 1804 Half Cents I have found, but they are nowhere near the condition of this one, I have not attributed the variety of those two yet, but do know they are not Spiked Chin varieties.

I'm trying to learn as much about the 1804 half cent. I found one the day before yesterday. I gently cleaned the mud off of it and left it the way it was. Could you look at mine and tell me what it may be.

Those are both beautiful Half Cents. Don, yours certainly did well for a coin that was under the surface for 200 years!
