Had a great day in about 1/2 hour time in my back yard. (Rhode Island) Found large cent and button about 50 feet from one another. Land was farmland at one time. Have found quite a few objects in my yard now, 1 other large cent.

Today's large cent is much nicer than my other. Clearly reads 1805.

Did some quick research this afternoon on the Rhode Island button. It is in fact a civil war cuff button. Reads Rhode Island on the top, has an anchor in the middle and reads "HOPE" on the bottom. (same as our current state flag) I can't get a clear picture of the back, but it reads TREBLE GILT.
I am pretty excited about my finds...especialy since they were from my own back yard.

You should be excited. I would be. Not many people find 1805 Draped Bust Large Cents yet alone in such great shape. Very Sweet. :icon_thumleft:

Congrats, two nice finds! The Rhode Island button is great, could you either post photo of the back or post what the back says, exactly. That is the only way to date it for sure, knowing the backmark.
