Best of this afternoons finds, was a very nice Georgian silver token. Issued in York in 1811, by the goldsmiths Cattle and Barber. Both became Lord Mayors of York. Other finds were, an Anglo Saxon 9th century pin head. A Georgian copper coin, and a couple of buttons. Robert.

I know silver tokens are a rare find, but is that one a rare token?

Also nice to get a bit of Saxon.

Don't think it's rare as such Cru. Certainly hard to find these things though, only had this one. It's from an interesting time, Napoleon raging through Europe, and we were a year away from burning the White House down:laughing7:. just cleaned it up with silver polish, come up really well. Robert.

I see your post, read the title and find the Saxon pinhead doomed between the other finds. :laughing7: Nice token still!

I have 0 'private' issued from this period, only a few bank issued types which is not quite the same. So, I agree hard to find, & yours looks in good condition as well.

Very crisp silver token, well done. Liking the Saxon piece as well.
