Well decided to give it an other try even thou the ground covered with snow and is pretty frozen. So went ''snow bancs diving'' in a field I recently discovered. With the perfect mix of strong winds and the rain constantly changing to snow got to my William IV Six Pence spot. Regretted at first going on a hunt as the top layer of the ground turned out to be as hard as ciment. But I believe it was worth it in the end. Got a very questionable signal with Deus Fast. After managing to dig about a 10'' hole the object was still no where near but pinpointer was going crazy. Almost gave up on this target. Finally after 20 min or so managed to pull from the frozen ground what could possibly be a Trade Axe (I'm not really an expert, your opinions would be appreciated). If it is, it will be my first. Later pulled Starr & Shannon Halfpenny 1815 in a decent shape for a field find (I also included a pic of what it was supposed to look like in a better shape) .

But seriously, no more ''snow bancs diving'' for me. I'll just wait for the next year...

Still, a nice little hunt.

You definitely have a colonial axe used by farmers, trappers, traders, woodsmen, military, or anyone who needed an axe of that size. Whether it was intended for Indian trade is purely speculation unless you found it at a trading post or an Indian village. Still a great relic regardless.

Um... IMO that axe is a rare one...

I would LOVE to see that one cleaned... electro or whatever.
Perhaps marked...
Old pole style.
That style goes back to the beginning of this country.

PS... PHENOM condition as well.

IF this checks out to be the era I think it is... it would be a banner X 5.

Wow... super find.

similar to a trade tomahawk I bagged this summer at the 1723 home in Lake Katrine, NY at 20 inches deep

Thanks! I can't say for sure about a Native village, but pretty sure there was some early activity. Found 2 stone spear heads and some stone tools about 100 feet from the axe spot.
