1823 Nova Scotia Half Penny Token

Got out to a field today that's produced some older coins and also two Canadian coppers previously. After nearly two hours barely a thing showed up. Then out popped the tombac with the ugly design! About 15 minutes later the copper disc appeared. Couldn't recognize it right off so I assumed it was Canadian. Turns out to be an 1823 Nova Scotia Half Penny Token. Surprised how many Canadian coppers have came out of here.

We get a lot of american and other coinage here as well, in those days they pretty much carried what they had and a coin was a coin, you took what you could get I imagine! Nice find! :icon_thumright:

I pulled out one similar a couple of years ago except mine was a Montreal "Un Sou" bouquet token..I found it in Raymond,NH

i found one of those too, they are pretty cool coins.

Nice testing ! The coin diverseity in New England sure keep the hunts Interesting ! I had one of those pop out of the ground in Hampden , Me. .Mine did not hold up well either ! Yours a little better than mine Keep us posted ! M.R.

Nice score on the NS copper, I'm pretty sure I got one a while back, but I recall it having a ship on the reverse :icon_scratch:
