1829 LC--1859 "Fatty" and 1896 IH, NYS Militia Button, WASTED Conn Copper?

My brother, Roz, and I battled our way up to our "hotspot" to see what the frost has heaved up for us. We weren't dissapointed. Anyone who lives in the northeast can now appreciate how mother nature has DEVASTATED the woods by the shear destuction we see here. The great ice storm we had this winter is killing our good hunting spots. I found my 3rd, NYS Militia button first. The 1896 IH was next, then the "fatty". I know it's an 1859 because it has no shield on the back. It was the only year of this type. By this time my brother and Roz are quite disgusted with me for finding everything. So I took a small break with some hot dogs and a smoke and my first hole afterward I thought was a button. But it was too heavy. After some examination we all determined it was a coin that someone decided to make into a love token. Boy did they waste this thing. I think it's a Conn. Copper. There appears to be a date of 1788 but I can't be sure. So I'll just say a "SLUG" Kinda stinks they did this kind of stuff back then. At this point my Bro and Roz are STEAMING with jealousy. ;D Throwing stuff, whining, all that :'( ::) I can't help what I find. About 15 mins later Roz finds his 2nd coin of the year. Awesome looking "V" nickel. Should be 1912 on the date. That eased up on 'em a little bit. It's been about 4 hrs. to this point so I decided to try up by the foundation as the other 2 already scanned this spot. :icon_pirat: So I get this decent hit at about 4". Sink my shovel in and KLUNK. HUGE ROCK. I'm thinkin' It's below it. So in the process I uncover this thing and put all the dirt fro on top of this thing to the side. As I'm prying up with my shovel I snap the handle off. SH.......UGAR! Hunt is over. Well I scan the dirt and pick out this wasted button. OH WELL. Scan more of the pile and BANGO!!! 1829 LC. And I thought my hunt was over! Well I guess WAL-MART is on my shopping list tomarrow. I'll trade a $10 shovel for a great looking 1829 LC anyday! Good Luck and HH Hogge
