Well here is the story. Randall and I where doing our first hunt together this weekend, and Randall hat some places to hunt. So we met up at the Waffle house at 7.00 and hit the forrest. After about 1 hour I got a good signal in a snake hole. I dug it and this beautifully silver coin from France came up. I have just washed it but it looks like it might be a really good one.

1. What is a coin like this doing 6 in. down in the forrest ?
2. Looks like the coin could be the following

5 Francs CHARLES X 2ème type Tranche relief

Graveur : Auguste François Michaut
Frappée en 1830
37 mm - 25 g - Argent
Tranche en relief DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM
4 003 exemplaires. ( should be 4003 made of this coin a low number I believe)

Here is my bad pictures for now I believe Randall will post also from the trip today.

My coin is a 1830 T ( I believe the T is the mint mark but not sure) I have not found a picture where the mint mark is a T so I am not sure I have enclosed a stock photo where the mint mark is different than mine but also from 1830. Anybody that know about this coin please post.

DFX signal of the coin at 4" solid 92, and at 2" 92 again very solid. It show $1 in the display. Is about the size of a $1 US coin anyway so it good.

That's a nice coin.

You never know what's gonna come up out there. People back then carried alot of things around with them.
