Went to a very different than usual spot today and found my first coin, my first button(s), and my first musket ball. The coin is an 1837 50 cent piece, not sure what variety - if there are different varieties.
Well now....that is one hell of a way to make an entrance! Fantastic coin! This post is just a reminder that it's all about getting on the right site. Doesn't matesr if you're brand new or a 30 year vet. If it's not in the ground....you won't find it. I'm really really wanting a capped bust coin. Glad you checked that one off the list
That's awesome and Abe is right (although rarely) lol. My first old coin was an 1794 capped cent. I was like what's that?! Congrats on that capped half. It's the one I'm looking for!
Great coin! Unfortunately, now you're screwed. You could dig 10,000 coins in the next ten years and never get a better one. Most of us haven't. But then again, there's Ahab8 finding his friggin tree coin in his first year!!! I'm actually just very jealous of the capped. Would LOVE to find one of those.
Thanks all and Happy Hunting! Now, besides the coin I actually find the buttons very cool - I believe two are hessian buttons and the other two are extremely old. The cuff link also gets me excited as it may be identifiable by the border, I saw a similar one here on treasure net that dates back to the 1600's. If anyone can confirm this that would be great.
