🥇 BANNER 1849 Gold $1 coin!

Stopped by my spot today for quick hunt, glad I did! I've found several bullets and buttons at this site, this area was occupied by Union troops. My first target was a big 3 ringer, larger than all the others I've found(previously dug bullet for size comparison). About 10' away I dug a couple of head stamps when I got a solid 51 on my At Pro. I've quickly learned to dig everything....about 8" down, out popped this beauty! First gold I've ever found. I left everything laying and walked straight to the car to douse it with water, that's all I've done to it... scared to touch it...lol. Took a bit to catch my breath, what a rush. I'm definitely going to keep hitting it hard as I hope there's much more to be found.

I suspect there are likely many out there. They are small and difficult to find. Their VDI is close to trash. And I understand that officers during the Civil War were paid in $1 gold coin. Gotta get out there and look for some more!

That's why it took me years to realise I'm a 'Trash Digger', not a Treasure Hunter like the manufacturers would want you to think. Most bells & whistles including disc are just that, lures that catch the buyer not the fish.

Congrats on your Banner find guy.... You totally deserve it!!!! I came into possession of some gold coins awhile back and some were just like the one you dug. Doing some elementary surfing I saw that the $1.00 1849 -C open wreath were very rare and worth tons of money. I stared at each one of them hoping to see a "C" magically appear (it didn't work). It didn't work the next day either. But digging one up like you did is just a dream many of us have!!!
