I have had very little hunt time lately due to family health issues that are much more important than detecting. Today I was able to squeeze in 3 1/2 hours in between hospital visits...at a site that in the 90's would always produce a wheatie or two...an occasional injun....and back in the 80's...YIKES I'm old ...a seated or barber.
I just pounded this area a few weeks ago with the 1050 coil...and pounded it DRY...at least for my hunting style...and my settings.
Well today it was a different coil...and I also gridded the spot in a different direction. The results...ALL DEEP oldies.
Three of the 5 injuns came from 10" down...and the other two came from 8" and 9".
The 1853 seated dime was 7" down...and completely vertical. I have never dug a coin that was 100% straight on edge like this one was. It gave a clad dime type of hit and locked about 1/2" out of the top right corner. The sound was not great...but obviously nice enough for me to investigate. Once I saw the way it was setting in the ground...I was amazed I was even able to get a decent signal at all. What a nice surprise.
Sorry for the short post...but I'm heading to the hospital again. It did me wonders to put the headphones on even if it was only for 3 1/2 hours. For that short period of time my mind was clear and worries were overtaken by a calm.
