Hello all. I got out Sunday to a couple of sites that have produced some good finds but I have also beat them to death. My best find was the 64 IH. We ended the day in a field that I thought was about done. The last 2 times I hunted it I came up basically empty handed. They must have done something different when they plowed it because there were a lot of signals. I wish I had started there & spent more time. I'll be taking it easy this weekend & bringing the bobcat out for another hunt next weekend. Hopefully it will produce some great finds, stay tuned! Thanks for looking & HH!

Looks like some potential for some early finds with the pewter buttons. Very nice all around hunt bud.

I agree, where there are pewter buttons there are other old coins and relics.

Anyways, Very nice hunt. I like the IH cent and the porcelain button is pretty cool, It's amazing how you spotted it mixed in with all the dirt.

I've hunted this site A LOT. There's one field that only produces relics 1770s-very early 1800s, over 40 buttons & not a single coin!!!!! It was the homesite of a Rev War captain. The other field on the same property produces mid 19th & nothing later than 1920.

Yep, the threaded brass piece is indeed a reins guide; mystery item is a brass cap from a furniture leg, I've found dozens if them.
You're on the right place for some nice old finds !

Thanks for the ID Ironhorse, I'm ready to get back out there. Too bad it's 2.5 hours away...

I have a couple of sites that far away too, I have to have a good gut feeling about travelling that far sometimes, but nothing ventured nothing gained!
Good luck next time out!

Looks like you've really pounded that site Josh. Hopefully you'll reveal a whole new layer of early relics next weekend with the bobcat, assuming the ground isn't going to be frozen like it is now. Looking forward to seeing what you can recover. Good luck!

Bill, this isn't the same site we're taking the bobcat to (although I've pounded it to death to) Hopefully the weather will be good & we will make some good finds
