I didn't even plan on detecting today because of Mother's Day but I took my seven year old just out in my own yard for a quick hunt to kill time before supper. I was just messing around to maybe find him a old dinky car or something for his little collection and I got a good hit. I couldn't beehive when this popped out. I did find a 1907 large cent and 1823 Nova Scotia token on the far side of my yard a few years ago but thought I got the best of my yard. It's only a fairly small yard and I got this coin five feet from the dog kennel. I'm still shocked. It got a bit scratched but I don't think it could've been helped much with all the little rocks that were in the soil with it. I love finding the old sterling silver coins. I feel like I'm on a vicky streak this spring and hope it keeps going. Thanks for looking! [emoji2]

When you least expect it haha! That's a nice find, I love finding fishscales--especially Victoria fishscales. I'm on a bit of a Vicky streak this year too, how many have you found this season?

The Victoria coin count is four coppers and one silver so far this spring. With the brutal long winter and my busy work started I didn't get to much hunting time in. I found other old coins/buttons/relics though this spring also so I'm satisfied. I have no choice but to bring my detector with me to work just in case though! Haha

That's funny! Sounds like there is probably more in that yard. I'm stuck in my yard....building a fence......hoping to get at least once this week.

I thought I hit it plenty hard before and it was cleaned out. Maybe time to remove some of those bad signals to see what's underneath. I'm for sure going to hunt it again now after finding that today. The good thing is that it's my yard and I give myself permission to hunt it! [emoji2]

I never needed my silvers to be shined right up. I find how they come out of the ground gives them some character. To bad for the scuff it got coming out though.

Dude, why waste gas when you can find the goods from your back step!

My house was built in the 1970s and I've detected every cent out of the yard already, nice to see some yards are good for the collection!

Great save !!
Only 40,000 minted
I'm thinking triple digit value.
Don....

Thanks. I was doing a little research and the older Newfoundland five cents do seem to be scarce.

Yeah it really hurts when the winters go super long. I was lucky this year, detecting mid-March. I'm at 5 Vics this season as well. I hope we both get a few more!

Yeah, good find,
Maybe if you were to clean it a bit the slight scrap, would be less visible.
I think my only Newfie coin finds are a couple LC's, and on e 50 cent piece.

Thanks. Wish I was on tnet when I dug the 26 Newfoundland silver cache. Any tips on what you would do to slightly clean it if I did?
