I searched my daughters yard today and found this 1883 seated dime. Also got 3 wheats 1925, 1944, 1955 and a lot of newer coins. I think when they worked on the sidewalk in front of her house last year the dime must have been moved up in the soil. It was only down 4.5 inches.
I just got my oldest coin 3 days ago 1875 Indian head ...I was shaking even though it was only 1 cent I thought about how old and just the history !!!wow great job
I am thinking the salt used on our roads in the winter time may have had something to do with the coloring of the coin. It was found in the grass between the sidewalk and the road.
Nice find. It's odd, but over the years I think I've found more seated quarters than seated dimes. That includes 2 seated quarters this past summer and only one seated dime. Keep hunting your daughters yard and move slow.
