Hi all,Been real cold and wet this winter but we need the rain after 5 years of drought. ;D ;D ;D.Kind of lucky as its doesn,t snow around here, only rain and the odd frost.Well after work i had a couple of hours spare , so i thought i might try around an old wool shed couple of miles up the road.had to duck for cover a few times ,as heavy rain setting in.only found a silver boer war medal about the same size as a Barbers Quarter.the medal had to be cleaned as at first i had no idea what the relic was.Shame about the extra hole in it but always nice to find something different.I was surprised at the lack of other rubbish but this site has been disused for over 40 years.Mostly only stock fencing wire in long pieces.

heres pic of the nasty weather LOl site and find.

Tinpan are you in South Africa? One place I've always dreamed of visiting. Not in this lifetime , but probably in the next? LOL Nice medal. Wish I knew more about the Boer War, but all I can remember is it was between Dutch settlers and the British rulers and I think the Brits won? Oh well, I guess I need to go on line and check it out before I comment on it! M :icon_pirat: nty

It was a medal issued to all Australians going overseas during the Anglo-Boer War,I think it was made by Stokes of Melbourne. Great Item!!!
