ok i took out the 1905-s barber quarter i found to take some pictures
i noticed that there may be a planchet error but not sure so here are a bunch of pictures for the coin experts

That would be a delamination error and a nice one at that!

I am not too sure what a coin like that would be worth. I believe that you should get it graded or authenticated. It would make it worth more and more attractive if you try to sell it.

I would try to find out the value before deciding on slabbing. It will come back as scratched or improperly cleaned so that is something to think about in valuing it. It would be a shame to spend more on having it slabbed than it is worth.

There actually wouldn't be that detail on a strike through. When lams are lost off of coins you can still see the detail underneath due to the power of the strike.
