Got to the Oronoco park today and found the 1906 Indian Head after 3 hrs hunting.
Coins are getting harder to find. I was told awhile back about the first guy who detected there many years ago and was pulling out sandwitch bags of silver coins, Bags of wheat's and worked it for 30 days. This park has been detected by many over the years so I only hunt the woods.

Its the victory of pulling the one that was missed by many, that makes you really appreciate the hunt. Congrats on that nice IH! :icon_thumleft:

Those guys had it easy in the old days. It was hard to miss good targets, with the coins all over the place and only 1 to 4 inches deep.

The hard-won prize is better than the easy pickings, isn't it? Nice Indian head cent!

I think it was 57 at a quick glance and only 2 inches down. Lots of foil and junk in the area and sandy soil. I was in deep silver mode and it hits nicely on Indian Head cents.

Great IH. I cannot wait to find my first. Something about those coins- the color, design, or something else just catches my eye...

Nice Indian Roger. I have been hitting the woods also. My woods is pounded, I have been working the brush now, because its nice and thin. I pounded all the wide open areas, so now I am going to the nooks and crannies, lol.
