I did a quick google search and came up with these:

First site listed the coin as MS-64 for $550. Not sure what your condition is, but sure looks great!

http://www.collect1.coinsandstamps....ickels/1936-1938/19361938_buffalo_nickels.htm

Second site has this coin, but it appears to be perhaps XF only. It listed at $65.00.

http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot.asp?auction=2551&lot=1221&imagetype=j2

Third coin I found on E-bay.. it was XF.. and sold for $60.

Hope you hit the big one with this one! May want to get it slabbed.. looks like a huge jump between slabbed and unslabbed.

Looks to be a nice find there LabradorBob ... I see only the faintest amount of surface rub so I would guess high AU. I don't have my Cherry Pickers guide with me now, so I can't confirm if this is a recognized double-die or as you stated, strike doubling.

I need to clarify for you and others reading this ... A circulation strike coin can never be "proof condition". Proof is not a grade, it's a process. Proofs are created with specially prepared dies and are struck multiple times to create the high relief effect and mirror fields. You will here the term "proof-like" applied to circulation strikes and that usually concerns the high contrast appearance and mirrored fields.

Sorry, but it is strike doubling. Notice the doubling is at a lower level. True doubling would be on the same level. Nice looking coin anyway. Get it slabbed for sure.
