Hello to all,
I found this 1937 Indian Head/Buffalo nickel in a local park a few weeks ago. I can't tell for sure if the fourth leg is there or not (b/c of dirt). I also can't quite make out the mintmark. The coin seems to have decent detail-I can see the lines in the feathers of the headdress. My question from a coin collecting perspective is...what should I do with it to get rid of the dirt? I know cleaning with polish is a big no-no. What would all of you coin collectors do?
Thanks,
Turtleman
P.S. Is there a different process for getting dirt off of other coins such as silver? wheats? etc.?

I'm not real big on cleaning dug coins other than to rinse the dirt off of em. the only time i will get crazy with cleaning is if i cant id or date the coin because its so corroded and dirty. then i figure its not worth much to start with, and at least i will know what i have. i would probably just soak that buff in some distilled water for a while and maybe use a soft toothbrush on it. thats my 2 cents! ;)
