Great find for the farmer. I wish I could be that lucky. I am wondering who bury them. Good hunting and good luck.

I never could find any further mention of this family, even though I continued to search down through the years. I DO know one thing ..................... If I lived in that area I would be trying to get permission to search that property. "Appleyard" supposedly made a "fortune" in the gold rush. If true, he would have had more than 75 gold coins? Of course it's possible that he spent alot buying that farm, but still, it seems to me that there is a very good chance that more is buried there? They said it was found "next to the septic tank". What if he buried much more than what was found, but when the septic tank got put in, they ended up in the bottom of the hole with the septic tank put on top of them? Or maybe the dirt dug up for the septic tank installation contained a fortune? The dirt probably got dumped somewhere on the farm?
