I was hitting a sidewalk strip in an old neighborhood and was getting a sketchy one way hi-tone signal. I've learned to always dig one ways after my last one was a Merc. As soon as I saw the glint of the rim of the ring, I knew. There's just no mistaking the color and shine of gold in the dirt. It is such an amazing feeling. A jeweler dated the ring to the 1950s and told me this style is unique to that decade. It is 10k and the stone is Alaska Black Diamond (which is just a fancy name for high-grade hematite). A modest vintage gold ring. My wife just loves it and is wearing it today. Happy hunting and don't ignore those one ways!

That is a beautiful ring!!! Congrats!!! what kind of detector do you use...I am just asking because I found a 1950's 10K gold class ring a few days ago and I got a scratchy high signal with a strong mid tone. I use an AT Gold and i was just wondering if that is what kind a sound a 10K gold ring usually makes.

Thank you! I use an MXT. Thicker rings will hit +40 on it, but thin banded ones like this can hit much lower VDI. I did some open air tests and could not replicate the one way signal at all. It was right next to the sidewalk, so that would obviously effect things, depending on what the type of sidewalk, soil, etc.. At open test air test I am getting a pretty consistent +10 on this ring. But naturally, in the dirt and against the sidewalk, I was getting a one-way. In any event, you gotta dig those lower VDIs if you want to find the dainty or thin gold rings. Congrats on the nice Class ring. I just saw it and it is very cool!

Beautiful gold ring! Congrats on a super find. You are so right about the euphoric feeling you get when you see that awesome color in the dirt.

Great find! The only gold ring I've ever dug was a man's class ring from 1957 that was 10K. Gave me a really low +17 on a white's machine that was unwavering. The only reason I dug it was because I was at the edge of a cornfield near a mid 1800's foundation. Turns out a farmer dropped it. Found that out when I was trying to and succeeded in finding the owner. I need to start digging more low tones. Keep up the good work. :icon_thumright:
