We finally found a 1987-D half in some loose halves, too bad it's all scratched up and in bad shape.
Would you'd throw this back in circulation or would you keep it?

I'd keep it b/c I am putting together collections of circulated Kennedys for my kids and have found only 2, 1987's so far...They are very few and far between.

What DD said. I constantly upgrade my albums. Usually you find a semi-decent place coin, and later, with luck, you find a real keeper to replace it with. Some halves I have upgraded several times.

I would toss it, I have over 2-3 rolls of mixed mintage 87 halves.

Infact ive never seen one that bad, except maybe a clad proof one.

I would probably keep it if it's your first. I have only tossed one NIFC (it was a proof) and it was in worse shape than that:

:coffee2: If you are building a collection, keep it until a better copy comes along. It is a NIFC coin so the amount of them are limited. It's only worth 50 cents.

I think for now we'll hold on to it.In another 20 years you'll never see another in circulation no matter what shape it's in.

Seeing as how its not all that uncommon to find silver halves from the 30s and 40s, silver proofs etc...im sure theyll still be around in 20 years. People will always be dumping collections they dont know anything about

I dont date search, but I have found about 5 or 6 '87s. I have kept each of them. I also keep all holed coins I find (about a roll worth) and proofs (100+). Id keep that 87 too.
