I don't know errors. I happened to glance into the reject bin of my homemade copper separator. This 1997D stood out like a sore thumb. It has a toning I have never seen on a cent before. The picture is horribly inaccurate for color, but I don't see any hint of copper.
Could it be missing its clad layer and it is just zinc that has toned a bit? Or, is it post-mint chemical damage? It also seems to be a defective planchet.
I will take it to the local guy this coming week some time and get the answer.
