I don't know what it was, but this coin had eluded me until yesterday. Got out with the two Jim's to a very historic site, we had high hopes for some nice relics but after a few hours of digging modern trash at 12" we were losing hope. The 2 Jim's had already given up and were laying in the field taking it easy as i was walking back to the car. I was on automatic pilot, I don't have a clue how the dime hit on my XLT, I just know i wasn't expecting a coin. There is no rhyme or reason to how deep things are, after all the deep modern trash this dime was just under the sod, go figure.

dont hurt me but 11 yrs to find a barber dime ?

maybe u were cleaning up on the clad.

no disrespect meant, everyones got their thing.

well if u had to wait that long

she sure is a beauty

I know, it is almost embarrassing.

Don't feel sorry for me.

I have a lot of other good stuff to make up for it.

It's ok. I've dug since 1992 and never managed to get a Barber Quarter. :D I have Seated Halves, Dimes, Half-Dimes, 2c pieces, a Seated Quarter, Barber Halves, and a Morgan Dollar though. ;D

Sometimes, it's pretty strange what we do--or don't find.

I've never dug a Franklin Half (and probably never will). That's not the age of finds I hunt for, so unless a farmer happened drop one out in a field over top of a Civil War camp I'm out of luck on finding my Ben Franklin. You won't hear me complain though.

In the past few years my buddies and I have seen dozens of Seateds and Spanish Reales come up, but we've probably only dug three or four Barber coins.

It's all about what you're hunting for. That matters most.

Well done on getting your first Barber Dime.

Cheers,

Buckleboy

You know it is, i could hit Lambert Ave with a rock from my house. That house is in Shelbyville.
I can't get over all the people on here that live or have lived close to me. Later goldnugget.

You are on the money Buckleboy, I have 5 Barber quarters.

We only hunt old spots now days. It takes the old stuff to really get me going unless

it's a first.

I have one friend that's found six silvers dollars in five years, and yet, I have another friend that hunted for twenty years, and never found a large cent! Sometime you just have to be LUCKY enough to go over it..............

Nice Barber Dime Dude :icon_thumright: HH! Mike.......

It is strange the way it works out, I also have a good buddy who has never found a large cent
after 15 years. I have 7 large cents and just recently dug my first half cent.
Have a good one Mike.

Thank all of you for looking and your comments.
