Hello all. I got out to a few spots Thur-Fri last week & found a few neat relics. I was able to get back into my Rev War site after a long deer season so that was nice. I found a nice tombac with a design, piece to a colonial rein guide (Crusader IDed one I found a few weeks ago), a pocket knife or razor & a hand forged hinge. I also found a piece of a small crock that was dug out while recovering an item.

The rest of the finds came from a couple short hunts prospecting new sites.

I do have a few questions:

1. What period does the brass handled pocket knife/razor date to? Colonial?

2. What is the relic with the lead filled back?

3. Any idea on the large iron piece?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking & HH!

The wing looks like half of a Motometer. It replaced the radiator cap on cars in the 1920s and 30s.

I think you may have found the most decorative horse shoe ever made. LOL And the item in the photo below that BEAUTIFUL button might be a bridle rosette? All very nice finds. Steve wanted me to ask you how come he never gets invited to go to these colonial sites with you?

It was IDed as the top off of a colonial rein guide. I don't invite Steve because he's a pain in the butt. LOL just kidding, I'd like to get up with him & Tom on a hunt sometime. Although I know those guys love silver, it's a rarity at the colonial sites.

Me too! I was really hoping some of the colonial hunters on here would chime in. It came from a very significant site & I'd like to verify whether it's colonial or later. I had a guy on facebook say he thought it was Civil War era & had seen similar in a book. However, until I see a similar photo it's still unsolved in my book.

This first piece is very interesting!

The second piece pictured looks like a saddle mount. :icon_scratch:
