1st Ring & Coin for 2009

Yesterday was my 1st day out with my new detector but the ground was mostly frozen solid.

Today I found a few small openings where I could dig.

Here's the results. That 1920 wheatie is my 1st coin found with the F70. Had to dig through 10 inches of gravel!

The ring has a sizer insert (I guess). It's one of those AC DC jobs size 10.

Ring IDed at 26 with no jumping.

HH,

Badger

P.S. The petoskey stone was found while digging. These make awesome jewelry.

Nice job badger! I too am learning to use the f70 myself. found gold with it today, it is pretty good with nickel signals. my son and I hunted a park that we use as a quick hunt when we dont have much time and the f70 found 17 nickels that Im sure my other detectors missed the last nickel signal being a gold nugget ring, also found a 25merc. my son had a f70 also but wasnt patient enough to learn the machine and sold iton craigslist. hes sorry he did it now. but he did get a pretty nice machine a minelab quatro with the butterfly coil. Keep up the good work.

Hi, yes, I saw that machine on Craigslist. That was a bargin with the pinpointer and everything. I believe it was $450...bargin.

Congrats on the nugget ring!

I at first thought this stainless ring was gold but then I took note of the AC-DC.

Stainless rings read like nickles. ;D

If you think of it, PM me the settings you use on your F70.

Best,

Badger

Better do it fast ~ He will have another new detector within 24 hours ...

Nick - give the guy a break. He only gets a new detector every year. ;D

F70? Haven't even heard of it. What about the F75? That is the bad boy to get....True?

Very Soon the White's Vision is coming out. That will be the hot detector. 8)

BTW - sorry to give you grief.

haha ;D I reflect that! ;D

Well Nick I see you're being unfaithful to Minelab :o The F75???

If you don't watch it you'll end up like those of us who are not brand loyal and look for what works. ;D

Thanks for standing up for me Mirage

The old badger is sort of thin skinned in his old age ::)

By the way, PLEASE don't get the F70 or F75! You're already finding too much good stuff. If you started digging 3 times more I couldn't deal with my jealousy. ;D

Congratulations on your new AC/DC ring.

Is this the first piece of rock band apparel that you have discovered with your metal detector?

I think it is. I live near a high school so I dig lots of skull and friendship rings. Most are sterling silver. Gold is very rare up here due to so many poor folks.

Thanks,

Badger

I range from Gaylord to Mac Island. It depends on the time of year.

This whole are is a snow belt and when we have a foot of snow just 60 miles south of us has bare ground.
