Yep the weather sucks! But that's a great site still waiting on you when things clear up. Great buckle and halfpenny. I really like all of the brass ornaments that you've found. The paper plate makes your finds even more special.

I have a coin just like that dated 1737. Not a detector find though. I wonder if it is considered a colonial coin? Not in my books as one. Nice finds!

That KGII 1/2 is a real beauty! Next time ya need to find some Chain Cents lurking in that same mild soil, that's not too much to ask right? :laughing7:

Why would you say that KG wasn't a colonial??

Not having been dug in America the best you can say is it's a British coin and the type which circulated. The difference is basically when the coin crossed the ocean... during the Colonial period or later, maybe much later. Many people do refer to them as Colonial coins and it's not a big deal, sort of the same way every mini or enfield you see posted is a "Civil War bullet" when clearly it is not because we find them here.

Forgot to reply to the post first... but that's quite a patina on that Georgie! We don't see that often here.... and never see buckles that early. Good day for sure.

The soils seem to be very kind to the finds, the copper is in great shape. Liking the other finds as well, the buckle is a nice addition to the collection.

Thanks for the comments. It really means a lot. The coppers are hit or miss. A few were nice. Others, severely corroded. I just checked the extended forecast for this area and they are calling for 60s next monday. Yeah, I'll believe that when I see it. I wish! As soon as this snow melts I'll be hunkering down for a Massachusetts 2 or 3 pence thank you very much!
