Grabbed a full box and 40$ in loose rolls of nickels today. Tellers were quite rude to me. Asking all kinds of questions... What are you doing with these? You don't bring them back here do you? Lalalala... one teller said she had 40$ in halves but i didn't dare take them. She was probably trying to dump them on me . Anyways i made some decent finds.... 3 wartime nickels, over a roll of pre 1960 nickels, a nice uncirculated 1958 nickel. Give me some feedback! Y'all ever have problems with tellers? Any good nickel finds ?

I just tell them that I collect coins. I haven't had any real problems with tellers.

Nice finds!

Nicks are fun. Lots of variety. Puting together a set is a tough but achievable challenge. War nicks are sweet.

I get the 3rd degree from tellers constantly - just tell them whatever suits your case - I go through them with my kid/s, I owe a guy that I don't really like a bunch of money, I just thought it would be something fun to do on a rainy day. Most tellers are pretty rude no matter how cheerful I am, don't let it get you down though.

ALWAYS take ALL of the halves! Like jrf30 said in an older post - you want them to know that you will take all of the halves all of the time.

Even if she was getting ride of them, ALWAYS BUY THEM ALL!! The fact that she said she has 40$ in halves and not 250 or 500 is a good sign.. Whenever I hear they have only a few rolls, I am always hoping for some solids.. If they were asking you why you want all those coins, it is a good indicator the tellers do not look through them.. Most tellers in my area know exactly why I am asking for coins.. What I am trying to say is GO BACK AND GET THE HALVES!!! :)

+1^

If nothing else they'll think of you when they get halves or older coins and bills.

You don't owe the tellers any explanation. It's none of their business what you are going to do with coin. Anyways, I sometimes make up some BS.

Found any 'seng lately?

I hope they are still there for your sake. You broke a cardinal rule!

a Friend of mine works at a bank.
a few years ago at the first bank she worked at, she was called in the office and told
she was being too nice to the customers.

It's obvious banks don't want their employees helping customers

With paranoia out of control, with homeland terrorists, making up stories of razor blades in food,
My guess it is hard to find people willing to eat anything given to them.
They must know you personally

If I was a bank teller and some one wanted to buy some coins, I would say "no, what do think this is a bank"
