Wow it was hot today.
Started in a cow field with no luck, moved to a nearby game strip but we had done this already & left only a couple of plain buttons.
Then I noticed a wide tractor track that seemed worth going down in the next field. Half way down I noticed several bare patches in the rape crop, left by the Archie's trenches. So I did all these areas & got a few things:
1 Scrappy
Nice Victorian Royal Navy Button
Cut Shortcross Hammered
Medieval Sword Chape
Broken Roman Brooch with some enamel
Lead Cloth Seal.
I forgot my water so needed to get home, before I left I thought I would try the Bungalow garden which is currently empty as no-ones renting it at the moment. (after sticking my head in the horse watering trough to cool down, I continued to the garden) I don't normally do many gardens, but as I entered I thought I may just get a ring, not knowing I would dig two in the same hole!
Both only 9 Carat & dating from 1945. Nice finish to the day. I think they may belong to the owners Dad, as he used to live there, if so I will happily return them both.
