14,520 nickels so far this year, and I've found three 2009s. Pretty sure all three were D as well, since I live in WA. For comparison, I've also found three war nickels, and three 20 pence coins.

They aint worth anything, so why save them?

People think they are rare. They were the lowest mintage nickels in a long time. But they are not rare by any means. Maybe in a 100 years they will be worth a few bucks
