Sorry man, it's just damage. Another coin was pressed into it.

That zincoln is ugly. Not only is there damage from another coin or similar object having been pressed onto it, the copper plating has been damaged enough for the zinc to begin oxidizing. Not much life left in this coin. Value: one cent.

Keep looking. You will find some good stuff. Do you have any of the cherrypicker guides? They could be helpful. A few guidebooks on errors would also be good. Experience, however, is the only way to recognize errors and varieties easily.
