Picked up a box of halves yesterday to kick off the new year, it was a pretty good one.

The box had two enders showing, and gave up five 90%ers and one 40%er:

1940
1941S
1943
1945
1947D
1969D

Man, it's been a tough go for the last couple of weeks. Finally broke my halves skunk streak last night, but my dimes skunk streak is still going strong :BangHead:

Picked up two boxes of halves yesterday, one of which had a reverse 40% ender. The ender turned out to be the only silver in that particular box, but the other box gave up five 40%ers.

Total take was six 40%ers:

1967 x 3
1968D x 3

I'm glad that you "HALF DOLLAR" searchers are still hitting with some frequency, goes to show AG is still out there.

It's been few and far between. I'm averaging a 15-box skunk streak between finds.

Same here. The poor results with halves over the last 4 months, combined with the time and miles driven to dump them, has got me ready to go over completely to the dark side - yes, dimes.

Yikes. The skunks rule this year. At least the dimes, for me, require less driving and planning to dump. I can save at least 150 miles of driving per week by switching from halves to dimes.

I still say that some of these very large coin processor companies have in their possession coin counting machines that can extract silver coins, just like CoinStar machines, or even better. I remember several years ago, a friend of mine from our church, works for Cummings Office Equip, and had said at the time that there is a coin counting machine that they are making, that can EXTRACT SILVER just with a flip of a electrical switch. Yes it may cost a lot more, but most likely would pay off itself within 2-3 years. We need to find out the TRUTH about that machine. Does anyone know of a person that works within a coin processor that can get us an answer?

That is a very good question and the answer could help to explain why MWRs lately have been so poor. The big finds being reported here are usually from CWRs. When asking for CWRs, how can we minimize the chances that all we are getting is someone else's dump coins? I spoke to a new teller at my primary pickup bank this week and told her I was switching from halves to dimes and that the switch would save me about 150 miles of driving around to dump the halves in coin machines. She surprised me by asking "Why don't you just bring them back here?" I wasn't expecting this and she added that the coins did not even have to be wrapped as they would bag them and put the cash in my account. She also added that the "other guys" doing halves do this.

I am so happy to see you still searching! Skunk streak sounds bad though bud. No luck with CWR's this year?

That 82 George Washington half looks awesome! Sick find my man.

I havent searched at banks in years now, although I check every quarter/dime roll we open in the retail stores. I have only found 1 silver quarter in the 4+ years lol. I do find stuff at coinstars in the grocery store every now and then, have gotten a few silver quarters and dimes.

HH as always brother

Hey, man! Long time no see on the board.

I've been picking up CWR steadily, but haven't found anything really good. Last year I had a few solid rolls of Franklins that came from CWR, but this year has been skuuuunky.

That was my third '82 Washington commemorative. Each one nicer than the last.

Just one of them skunky years, I suppose. I think I'm just over 30 ounces found. Last year at this time I was at double that.

Good to see you on here, bro.

Skunked on the MWR and CWR, but both boxes gave up silver!

The first box had four enders showing, and gave up one 90%er and eleven 40%ers:

1964
1966
1967 x 3
1968D x 7

The second box gave up seven keepers, three 90%ers and four 40%ers:

Picked up a box of halves over the weekend, it was a skunk.

Dumped it this morning on my way into work, and snagged these bad boys from the teller's tray:

Picked up two boxes of halves over the weekend, pulled three keepers between the two of them:

1964
1967 x 2

Was a tough little skunk streak that those three finds pulled me out of.
