Today turned out to be absolutely amazing. Some friends and I returned to the rev war camp we found last year and began hunting. We started off slow and didn't really manage anything except some old square nails. I headed back towards the hot spot area from last year where I got a sword pommel and where we dug many buttons and I got a signal that sounded a little better than a shotgun shell (which we had dug dozens of). I was thinking maybe it was another button, but then I saw the numbers 21. I stood up and said "oh my god" about 15 times. I ran over to my friends and showed them. This is absolutely one of my best finds ever. After that I didn't get anything else except another dropped musket ball and and some sort of brass loop, probably camp related. I am still in a bit of shock. Finding something like this was a bucket list item for me. 21st badge.jpg

The style of the 2 looks period, I'll say you have a WINNER there. Even without looking on the net I suspect it will be hard to find a matching example. However, is it present in any Rev War books?

Congrats on an excellent Rev War find. That had to be a thrill to see that one coming out of the dirt.

That is one awesome find congrats! I am amazed that its still in one piece I could imagine that something like that is pretty fragile! Was this badge on their hat or jacket and how was it attached?

Oh hell yeah man!!!! That is an amazing Rev relic. Well done and an obvious easy BANNER recovery in my book. I’d love to hear more info if you get any. Curious just how rare this piece might be....I’m guessing pretty damn scarce

A lot of the experts aren’t quite sure... I believe this is a previously unknown device.

Killer find!!! How about a cleaned pic & a pic of the back? I can't imagine this not making "Banner"!
